The UNFCCC held on Nairobi, Kenya last Nov. 6-7 2006 was taken place in the United Nations Office. This convention hosted the parties of the Kyoto Protocol in which they have discussed very important decisions in which the world would really benefit from. In the conference attended world leaders in which they discussed the issues that concerns mother earth. But one of the most compelling people that attended that conference was BBC reporter Richard Black. He even called the delegates “climate tourist” in which he called them what they are because they were just there to act like tourists. Nonetheless they were talking about the climate change of the world but denying the fact that Africa is a poor place in which the truth lies not within saving the climate.
With a poor continent like Africa you would be seeing wildlife and not to mention the dying women and children that lay down the streets due to the fact that they are starving. Also the reporter seemed to point out that the economic costs of such delegation would really plummet the whole situation that Africa is in right now. A very hard yet truthful statement from this reporter from BBC, though despite the bad image the delegates had before the media the climate change convention still had its own agenda underneath its roof. With plans of making good vibes with COP12, they talked about including the countries that are “underdeveloped” and that they would help to recognize them as well.
Helping countries that are in the development stage would really boost up the morale of the people, whether they are having problems with poverty or not. The Adaptation Fund was also strongly talked about in which they strive for the best clean development mechanism that they can think of. Going all clean and dandy isn’t always the easiest and cheapest way to go around the climate programme. With getting clean air, and clean atmosphere countries need to shed of their annual gross in order to achieve that goal. Though with the meeting in Nairobi the convention they promised to do their best within the five years ahead of time in order to make things as good as possible in Nairobi.
With all the talks about getting everyone into the Kyoto Protocol it would be best that all countries should make it an effort to join up with the crusade. Making it possible for a clear green future, though going that path is quite hard and costly. That’s why the developed countries are urged to help with the Adaptation fund in order for developing countries to cope up with such wants of the Convention. In hopes of a more cleaner earth to live in the UNFCCC travels the world hosting conventions in order for the world to be educated.
